Pet Dental Care/Teeth Cleaning

Your pet’s oral health is an important part of his or her overall physical health, which is why we’re happy to offer pet dental care and teeth cleaning services here in our office. In addition to caring for your pet’s oral health at home by brushing his or her teeth, bringing your pet in for a routine dental exam and cleaning is a great way to avoid long-term problems. Gum disease, for example, is a common problem among pets over the age of three. With regular cleanings, we can remove plaque and other build-up along and underneath the gum line that can otherwise cause this painful disease and lead to permanent tooth loss. Dental cleanings also keep your pet’s breath fresher and fight against tooth decay.

Pet Microchipping

Is your pet microchipped? If not, now is a great time to get this quick and simple procedure done! Specifically, pet microchipping involves implanting a tiny chip underneath the surface of your pet’s skin (usually in between the shoulder blades). This chip is programmed with your contact information, including phone number and address, so that your pet can be reunited with you in the event that he or she is lost. Microchipping takes just a few moments and is done so quickly that your pet likely won’t even notice.

Senior Pet Care

As your pet ages, his or her health and wellness needs can change. We provide dedicated senior pet care, including senior pet exams, to stay on top of any changes in your pet’s health in older age. We typically recommend wellness exams twice annually for senior pets, and we may also recommend changes to your pet’s diet to reflect their changing nutritional needs.

Flea & Tick Treatment

Fleas, ticks, and other pests can wreak havoc on your pet’s health and your household. The good news is that we offer flea and tick prevention and treatment here in our office. By protecting your pets from these pests, you can keep them happy and healthy!

Routine Wellness Exams

Routine wellness exams are your first line of defense when it comes to protecting your pet’s well-being for life. This kind of pet exam gives us a comprehensive look at every aspect of your pet’s health, from palpation to check for external abnormalities to readings of vital signs and laboratory tests of blood, fecal and urine samples to reveal any lurking systemic disorders. We will also examine your pet’s posture, gait, behavior, responses to stimuli, weight, and other indicators of health. If we see room for improvement, we will discuss our recommendations with you and answer any questions you may have about your pet or pet care in general.

Surgical Procedures

Surgery on pets may be in the nature of routine preventative care, planned procedures to relieve pain and restore function, or emergency procedures that can save a pet’s life. Whatever kind of surgery your pet needs, you’ll feel better knowing that you have an experienced pet surgeon handling the procedure. Our veterinary team is skilled in a variety of surgical categories. Our internal surgeries can address everything from bone setting and foreign object removal to correction of serious conditions such as bloat. External surgeries can be administered to seal wounds and remove lumps for biopsy. Dental surgery may be necessary to extract a troublesome tooth or treat oral cancer. On the preventative end of the scale, spaying and neutering from your pet surgeon can greatly reduce your pet’s risk of heat-related dangerous behaviors as well as reproductive diseases.

Boarding – Dogs, Cats, and Pocket Pets

Central Animal Hospital operates a full service, licensed boarding facility including a quieter space, designated for our boarded cats, birds and exotics.  After an evaluation with a doctor, we can determine if your pet is a candidate for boarding.
