AAHA Accredited Veterinarian in Scarsdale

aaha accreditationCentral Animal Hospital in Scarsdale is pleased to announce that we have successfully renewed our AAHA accreditation.

AAHA Accreditation in the U.S. and Canada

AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association, and they provide the accreditation standards for the veterinarians in the United States and Canada. Only about 15 percent of all the animal hospitals and veterinary clinics are AAHA accredited. Becoming accredited by the AAHA and maintaining that accreditation means that our Scarsdale veterinarians adhere to all the practices and procedures of the AAHA so that your pet can receive the best possible care.

AAHA Accreditation Process for our Veterinarians in Scarsdale

In order to recertify for accreditation, our veterinarians, serving all of Westchester County, had to meet or exceed in more than 900 different veterinary practice standards. A few of those practices include having an employee handbook and making that handbook available to all of our veterinarians and health care team members. We must have detailed protocols for maintaining safety within our veterinary hospital, and we must have a disaster preparedness plan, as well.

All of our services and procedures for treating patients are reviewed by the AAHA accreditation staff, including our anesthesia practices during surgery, our general surgery practices and procedures, overall patient care, emergency care and our pain management procedures, as well as many other procedures and services. In addition, AAHA asks to review several case files from each veterinarian at our animal hospital. The on-site visit from the AAHA accreditation staff takes about six hours.
